crisp screenshots

Postby flyflyflyaway » Fri Feb 11, 2005 7:52 am

Hey All!
I was just wondering how you take such crisp screenshots? I know its its the display settings of FS but I'm not sure where. See my signature for specs...
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks! ;D

Max out all FS settings, and enable Anti-Aliasing and Anisotropic FIltering in your graphics card settings.

Your PC seems to be a pre-assembled one. Insane CPU, bad graphics card.

Oh. Well, then you should've invested a bit more into a better graphics card. But as long as you stick to FS, it should be good enough.

9800pro woulda been nice in it!

6600GT if your looking for a better card now.  The FX5*** range were pretty bad to be honest.  The ATI cards were superior that year, expecially ATI's image quality.

You may get good screenies from that g/card by maxxing everything and turning on AA and AF in your Display properties via the control panel, but I doubt the sim will fly to well at busier airports.

Its only the g/card that really needs updating in that system though.

Hold your horses! It isn't just your system specs that affect your screenshots, on my old P4 2.0GHz system with a GeForce FX5200 I could get VERY clear screenshots until I resized them.

Flyflyflyaway, your system specs are fine, MOF they are very good. Poor screenshot quality can be due to a the way you resize them. Until I got Adobe Photoshop 7 yesterday and started using it all of my screenshots were blurry, pixelated and off-colour after I resized them (thus why I hardly ever posted any). I don't know of any good freeware resizers but I'm sure someone on these boards does.

Irfanview (freewware) was recommended to me a while ago.  It has worked very well so far.

One thing I do to take crisp screenshots is I don't resize them.  I keep FS2004 at 800x600x32 resolution and crank the sliders up a little higher.  I feel that the drop in resolution is gained back (at least somewhat) with higher settings-and, I don't need to worry about resizing them so there's no problem with losing quality there.

PixResizer does a good job of resizing without loss of quality...

Dat it is mon!

Just do a search on google for it!  I like it because it can resize by the folder (do several images at one time).
