B-17 Flying Fortress

Postby Equinox » Mon Jan 17, 2005 3:42 pm

I just got some links to these amazing screenshots of a B-17  :o . But I couldn`t find this model on any sites. So I don't know what this aircraft is. Work in progress or just not yet released. It seems to be final. Does anybody know any details of this aircraft for the flight simulator? I want to fly it.

I asked him, of course. But he doesn't know the developer, too.

Are you sure that's not Wings of Power (I hear they are developing a standalone B-17 as well as a Mustang)...

When I compare the images I would say the first posted model looks more detailed. The chrome reflections are also different and the textures seem to have precalculated Shadows. I would say it is another model.

It might just be a repaint but the models are the same,
right down to the gun turrets.

Actually, after posting these side by side, I think they are two different models. The engine housings are longer and the nose is slightly different.

Very nice work!!!

I think you're right dave...

The details on the top of the cockpit don't quite match, specifically the top windows (they're farther forward on the WOP B-17...)

Your memory ain't that good,eh guys? The adress in the links to the pics point to the webspace of a guy named OriK. And the nick "OriK" immediately rang a bell. Right-O, the modeler of the great, but unfinished Su-25. He is also a member here and posted some WIP shots of the Sukhoi a while ago.
Seems like he has another project now...a great looking project,by the way...

Looks beautiful, and I hope when released it has a VC to compliment the overall package.

B-17 has always been my fav WWII bomber. Such a magestic looking warbird it was and I think from these screens Orik is doing it great justice :)

Externally I think might even be better than WoP which in its own right is fantastic as well
