Joyride in another Aeronca

Postby jordonj » Sun Nov 28, 2004 1:50 pm

Well, Russel's friend has a restored Aeronca LC.  Russel told him how I like vintage planes, wierd planes, new planes, actually, I just like planes, and so they took me back out to check it out!

I even got to fly it!  Thing about this plane, you know you're in a taildragger when you get in.  I was  zig-zagging all over the place, making my way to the main runway.  The plane has some real suspension in the wheels too!  I was always bouncing from side to side...

Russel's friend's wife caught the takeoff...

I didn't get the opportunity to check out Downtown Pensacola from the air when I got here so I decided to rectify that!

I decided to take a shot of the bridge as I came back to the airport...

Again, Russel's friend's wife was there to catch the landing.

And me getting out after I parked...

Well, this beat the heck out of shopping (I hate the day-after-Thanksgiving madness...comes of having worked in retail).  Oh...and one of you asked me what Dee Dee looks like...well, I don't have a photo (and she hates having her picture taken), so here goes...

Think Dolly Parton,  but more realistically endowed, hair just shoulder-length, and glasses, and you'll have a rough idea...

Getting ready to head out tomorrow to Jacksonville!  I expect to see an old friend there!

Great shots of another elegant golden age plane jordenj. I fly the yellow version all the time. The belly flap is an interesting approach, less complicated linkage.

Clear skies,
