OK.....so I've switched to the Corsair air file and plugged the Dauntless numbers into the Corsair cfg, but it still ain't that easy..... ::)

You mean to make the Dauntless fly OK, right?

Can't remember whether the default Corsair comes with FS9 or just FS02 - all my planes are mixed together now.

Firstly, just copy over the Corsair air file and rename the same as the original Dauntless file. Rename the original Dauntless cfg file (so you can copy bits out of it) and copy over the Corsair cfg file. Check to make sure the CG and aircraft datum positions are the same - they are.

Paste the top sections ([fltsimsim.0] and [General]) in from the original cfg file.

Don't just paste in the whole [contact_points] section as the aircraft weights are different. Just change the contact point positions and wheel diameters. But do copy over the scrape points (although as I remember they are the same as J Lucariny looks to have used the Corsair file himself as does Alpha Sim also).

Also change the static pitch and cg height (correcting the latter at the same time), the [Reference Speeds]  and the [Views] sections.

Then just change the tail hook dimensions although I doubt that matters.

I've also added a VC light to get the following (not perfect, but an improvement)

I've copied my new aircraft.cfg file in two sections in the next two postings (as together they are too long). The plane now flies like the Corsair. Bit too fast but that's easy to correct. Anyway, it's a huge improvement on the original which was ...ahem....hopeless ;)

Hey - forgot. I also got this CFS2 2D panel from Netwings. Works great but you do need the stock CFS2 gauges already

If you don't have the gauges, could just use the bmp and revamp the original panel that comes with the plane using CFGEdit I guess.
