Landing a heavy

Postby Dannyboy » Thu Nov 25, 2004 9:56 pm

Happy Thanksgiving! I have wanted to post some pics of this American Airlines 747-200 for awhile now. American flew the 747-200 for awhile and then decided that the customers did not really like the 747-200 so they switched to a 777-200 I believe. Anyway a nice bird to fly for sure and it looks perty tuff...

There is just something about landing and smoking the tires on these big airliners that I can't resist.

Have a great evening  8)  ;D

Relax Dannyboy, that was meant as a joke!

I know those are freeware shots.  It's a way of saying that those are excellent shots, and they look photoreal!

I have a heavy like that one, only its a Boeing 747-100 (Boeing House Colors)(Opensky) and I have to get lined up and prepared to land when I'm 20 to 25 miles out.  It is very difficult at first.  I was used to corporate aircraft.  Now instead of flying 3000 or more miles and having to refuel I just take my heavy and get there in less time.  So the trick is to plan ahead, watch your desent, speed, and time of arrival.
