Race Pt. III - Low on fuel...

Postby Wing Nut » Wed Nov 03, 2004 4:27 pm

Crossing from France to Spain, I misjudged in a big way...

Leaving France, 47% should be fine.  I'll stop off in Spain, pick up half a Tank to finish the trip and voila...
Image

Nope.  When I finally saw the coast, I had 15% left.
Image

When I finally hit the coast, I had eight percent.
Image

High into the mountains with only 6% left...
Image

5%...  Maybe I should set down by this village to look for fuel...
Image

Finally made Rozas with 2% left.
Image

Down at last!  I am never cutting it that close again!
Image

That was a close call.  I didn't quite realize how far it was from France to Spain!

This has confirmed it. Either i'm shutting down one engine or i'm stopping off for a top up in Spain. ;D

I'll try and get my next set of shots up tomorrow.

This race is starting to get really good! ;D ;D

Turns out it was closer than I thought...  ;)  Three gallons left per tank?  That's 2 gallons per engine!

Nice story, thanks, enjoyed it!  Thought up to now that I was the one who specialised in 'dry' arrivals!  :)

That's not just a story, we were in the middle of a race to Lisbon.  ;)
