
They started coming at about 11:00...The first thing we saw was a Dornier flying boat...

This is maintained by a group of businessmen (one of them a car dealer). They all take turns flying it. It was as graceful as a swan taking off (though a bit tricky to turn in the water...)

Then the Silkorskys started coming. This is a re-built S39 in the livery of Varney airlines (which would later become United Air Lines)

Here's one taxiing onto land from the water.

This one is done in the colors of the Civil Air Patrol...not very intimidating considering, but what a beaut!

This is a replica of one that the New York American used to cover stories all around!
