A article on Avsim today said that Simtech isn't going to do payware anymore and all it's current releases will be launched as freeware. Apparently they weren't making any money. The only catch to this deal is you'll only be able to download the stuff from Avsim.

I feel sorry for those who bought them.

Not necessarily true. I found all of them at a different site than Avsim. And instead of DLing them at 12.1k due to avsims server load, I DLed at 195k

As for "I feel sorry for those who bought them."

I dont. A lot of times as payware ages, and better things come out, companies will release the older ones as freeware. Not common practice, but does happen

I just found a link for those guys who still want the newly released Simtech planes at a great download speed, just go here http://www.fsfreeware.com/cgi-bin/dcd_a/dcd.cgi . I downloaded there at 400kb a second.

Only a few of them look interesting the Russian one, the P-39, and the Beech 18.  It does suck for those that paid for them.  I understand that as payware ages, companies will release them.  But the Beech 18 just came out a few months ago, I think. ;D  Bill Lyons did the same thing with his Swift, Tiger Moth, and Ryan.  I paid for the Tiger Moth.  I am not complaining though, because I can appreciate the work that went into it. ;D  There are certain companies though, that probably will never release payware to freeware.
