FS9 Update - Some UK Highlights

Postby RollerBall » Mon Oct 11, 2004 3:31 pm

Dartford Bridge unchanged, but now the original tunnel is also included

Image

More bridges in London (but no London Eye  ;) ) and more individual detail on them

Image

The Humber Bridge (it is the longest suspension bridge in Europe after all)

Image

A good job of the Forth bridges

Image

A lovely new bridge in Liverpool

Image

And the 2 Severn bridges where they should be

Image

Anyone seen any more stuff yet?

Hi Roger...!
I bet the residents near Dartford Bridge wish it was as "Countryfied" as those shots show...!
Moo cows instead of traffic... ;D...!

LOL...!

The Severn Bridges are not too bad, but the surrounding countryside either side of the River Severn is quite hilly in real life...they still haven't got the mesh elevations sorted out for poor old England... :'(...!
...I'm sticking to SoCAL...
Uncle Bill got it right there...;D...!

LOL... ;D...!

Cheers Roger... 8)...!

Paul, I've been downloading the new mesh but have only installed it in areas where I've been doing more flying.

Ahem....that hasn't included Bristol and sunny Weston Super Mare I'm afraid  ???

I know that that will come as a surprise to many West Country folk  :)

I am glad to see the humber bridge there.  Second biggest in the world to Akashi Kaikyo in Japan.

2 Islands off Weston-Super-Mare, Flat Holme and Steep Holme don't exist in FS9, can't get a mesh that includes them either. Did they include Clifton Suspension Bridge Rollerball?

They could be added using Ground2K

No I looked but couldn't see the Clifton bridge. The whole Bristol area is pretty weak I think. Mind you, it was .... ahem... a few years ago since I was at Uni there  :)

Hi

If you want some UK mesh go here:

http://www.ozmesh.net/

and get Andys mesh. Big downloads (if your dail up) but well worth the wait.

Cut from the readme:

"One of three files covering Scotland, England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Eire sampled at LOD 9 from SRTM 90m. hgt data."

The update is "great".
I thought M$ would add a routine for autogen bridges (at every river crossing), but noooo, they just redid 160 uninteresting bridges. Great! :P
