Sunset and Soup

Postby jordonj » Thu Sep 16, 2004 5:14 pm

Well, I stayed a bit longer than I wanted to, especially as the ordinance on Spider Lake is "No Wake after 7pm".
Everyone wanted a ride, so I did a couple of 1/2 hour flights for the guests (good thing this was not a block party)!  I went back to the airport to re-fuel (the guests all chipped in for that) and filed an IFR plan to Grosse Ile that I could activate in case of more bad weather.  After the burgers (but I abstained from the beer) I got ready to go at about 7:20...not strictly legal, but at least I knew the lake was going to be clear!

One of the people took this shot and e-mailed it to me...

I was treated to a spectacular sunset! :D
You don't see too many sunsets like this anymore...

Image

A few students from the NMC flight school en route to Mt Pleasant and Lansing got these shots.  Since they fit, I just included them all (everyone knows I have a problem with letting good shots go...)

Well, sure enough, the soup came back so I contacted Flint approach and activated my IFR plan.  Once I was near enough to KONZ, I cancelled...there was something I wanted to see!

Namely the Ambassador Bridge!

Image

Well getting to KONZ was easy, but lining yourself up in the fog is a bit of work.  I ended up doing a short final :o  Good thing the Lake Turbo Renegade is tailor-made for that sort of thing!

Naturally, StormTropper was waiting with his camera...

And parked!  Those vending machines up in the building are making me hungry!

I have been doing other stuff, but I plan to continue into Ontario and Toronto!  Post some more tomorrow or the next day!  ;)

I believe I got it from FSFreeware, but it may be easier to find at Avsim.
