California trip in a Hughes!

Postby Fozzer » Thu Aug 12, 2004 12:31 pm

FS 2002... ;)...!

Here are some pics of one of my many trips between San Francisco and Los Angeles following the Pacific coast line, carrying tourists viewing the amazing California landscape on the way.... ;D....!

Picked up my passengers and leaving San Francisco, (KSFO).
Climbing to 8000/10,000 feet. Throttles, props and mixture controls set to cruise at 240 knots.
Constantly tuning the radios, Transponder/Nav/Com/ADF/DME, and running on auto-pilot all the way down the coast chasing the VOR frequencies.... 8)...!

Image

Tuned Salinas VOR on 117.30.
Overflying Monterrey Bay.

Image

Tuned Vandenberg VOR 112.25. Obtained clearance to overfly the Air Base, and heading for Santa Barbara.
Sandy beaches in front...
Re tuned Point Mugu VOR (Oxnard) on 110.60

Image

Followed by Santa Monica VOR 0n 110.80
Cleared by ATC to land.
Disembarking at Santa Monica,(KSMO), avoiding crowded Los Angeles airport, (KLAX).
Lots of smiling passengers...Fantastic trip.... ;D...!

Image

Bookings now taken for Fozzers California tours.... ;)...!

Cheers all... 8)...!

Paul.
