Heeeeeeeeelp!!!

Postby Andres89 » Wed Aug 11, 2004 5:46 pm

About the size of screenshots, I know about the limits and all of the rules pete has made. I just have a slight problem with following these rules which I don't have any issues with keeping to . It's just that whenever i take a screenshot with FSScreen it is in bmp . I then convert it to jpeg and switch it to 800x600 resolution with Pixresizer. 9 times out of 10 I will get a screenshot which is almost twice as much as the limit.  Whenever I do get the size of the screenshots low enough  it looks like C_ _P ( the shot is just too small to make out detail) . Could my oversized screenshots be because I am using Fsscreen instead of pasting it into mspaint and changing it to jpg there? Does anybody know of any new formats which would work to make these screenshots smaller and would be accepted on these forums? Does anyone know why they are always so big ??? . Help please :(

P.S I know this isn't a screenshot but I still posted it here as there are many people on these screenshot forums who know a lot about taking screenshots and a lot who probably have the same question as me ;)

lower the quality instead of the size. . .

or if you have photoshop you could use this tutorial: http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb/ ... 1091076239

or as a last resort i would recomend downloading a program called "Irfanview". this thing always works for me. it saves them quite a bit more compact (file size wise). It also can read most any file, and convert it, plus it is a free program!

hope this helps

Well first I tried  this method as
a test and I lost 7 kilobytes. That wasn't bad but sadly not enough :(

I downloaded Irfanview and did the same screenshot . I brought the quality from 80 to 50 and I did not see any difference between the two images except for that the 50% quality image was half the size of the 80% shot. Thanks a lot for all of your help .
