2 pilots... 1 plane?

Postby machineman9 » Fri Aug 31, 2007 5:39 am

to do with multiplayer i guess...

i feel like doing a long distance flight.... maybe from somewhere like tokyo to Los Angeles or Chicago or somewhere

but, i want to be able to have 2 pilots in the plane... that can both fly it... and i cant remember how you do this. do the pilots get given a side of the aircraft each?

cheers

Hi machineman,

From what you've said i think your talking about a flight sim addon called Gates.to. Once you have downloaded you get 2 hours free which is enough for 1 maybe 2 flights. You can have a look at it here

Are you doing it in FSX or FS2004?  For FS2004, I know there are some add-ons to allow two pilots in one plane.

For FSX, you are supposed to be able to select position (pilot, copilot, etc) to fly for each person sharing an aircraft.  My dad and I messed around with it, and it kept putting us both into the pilot's seat.  So, to get around that, one of us just manually shifts the view to the co-pilot position and there you go, pilot and co-pilot.  Of course, that is dependent upon using the v/c.  I think if you switch back to the 2D cockpit you are going to find yourself right back in the pilot's view for the 2D cockpit even if you were in the co-pilot's seat in the v/c.

If I find a way to fix that auto-seating setup, I will let you know.

I do know that I have used the movement functions (SHIFT/CTRL + backspace in varying combinations) to move myself around the aircraft in FS2004 (including into the copilot seat and into passenger seats).  But, I do not have any add-ons yet that allow me to have a co-pilot.  I know they are out there, but I just haven't used them yet.

Best of luck,
~Darrin

FS2004, sorry i should have said

a 1hour flight isnt really going to be enough i dont think.... not across a continent.

the only co-pilot i have is a voice recognition one though it fails horribly... it wont turn off autopilot!

isnt there a way with spectators or something to control it?

Hello,

Looks like Gates.to is what you want then for FS2004, although be careful if you do choose to buy it as when i brought it i didnt even recieve a confirmation email and the forums are showing a few questions unanswered from people who want to know if there purchase had been successful. luckily i never had a problem as i downloaded it first and then brought it afterwards when i thought i was nearing the end of the demo. When you had paid once you dont have to pay again :). Good luck if you choose to do so.

Hi Machineman,

Well i would have recommended it up until now as when i tried to use it, the thing says try before you buy trial has expired even though i brought the thing,i tried to post on the forums and they aint even activated my account and some forums havent been touched since 2004. I havent bothered paying again for something they cant even be bothered to activate. So the risk is up to you..... >:(
