If you are the guy on the outside during a run up, there is not a lot to do, so;
And now for the sympathy factor, it was about zero with a 20kt wind so the wind chill was vicious. The blurries is snow and the heating in the tug is not working..............yes I know look in the dictionary, sympathy comes between sh#t and syphilis

2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.
