And shock horror look who want's in. ::)

I hope it happens, I thought the series was a great idea. Just think if they could get Mansell, Hill, Hakkinen and Schumacher to sign on to begin with. Add in Patraese, Alesi, Fittipaldi, Andretti, Warrick, Herbert, Berger maybe even Stewart and Rosberg**. Just thinking about it makes me wish it was the season already. Get Murray Walker in to commentate again and I'm in heaven. :D

** My ideal list, feel free to add and remove drivers.

Jacques Villeneuve:
"You could possibly equalise things with weight. The younger you are, the more kilos you have to carry."

Listen up Jacques, Mansell would beat you with ballast in HIS car ;D

Ironically, Johnny Herbert was due to join the series before it went bust last year. Hopefully he'll still be in, as was Nannini.

I think Martin would do poorly. He struggles to drive the F1 cars in his specials, and he was never that special to begin with as a racer.

:-? :-? :-? :-? :-?

I think thats a little unfair! Certainly not 'top drawer'  but put in some blistering performances in his first year in F1 till he broke his ankles, never mind his performances against a certain aryton senna in F3.

Top sportscar driver though and when he did get a good f1 car such as the benneton, although not able to match Mr Schumacher in qualifying, he occasionaly got the better of him in the races. Should of won in canada as well.

I suspect the reason he 'stuggles' with curent F1 cars has more to do with the fact hes no longer 20/30 years old and probably doesnt keep up a fitness regime of a current F1 driver - plus he cant go out and bin one when williams and redbull are so kind to let him drive one in the first place!! But the fact they do let him must say somthing about how those teams rate Martin as a driver.

I cant see them letting any old tom, dick or james allen drive one!

Top sportscar driver indeed - and not scared of Le Mans... ;)

With all due respect to Martin, He was always a number two driver at the bigger teams. And yes that means he was a capable and fast driver, just look at many number two drivers. Coulthard, Massa, Barrichello, Irvine to name a few. All quick drivers able to win a race or two but thats all and not the driver you want going for a championship see Irvine 2000 was it? David Coulthard quite often got the better of Mikka at times, but when it comes down to it. Mikka always delivered more results, and I cant imagine many teams picking DC over hakkinen in their primes. Same goes with Brundel. You put him and schumi on a plate in their primes, you pick schumi 100 times out of 100 selections.
I know he was quick but just lacked that something special to class him as having the ability to compete for instance in the GP masters against the likes of Mansell or my picks of schumi or hakkinen and Prost.

Of course the teams will let him have a go with their cars, its good publicity and he's a former driver so they can trust him. I just find it amusing how he struggles for instance with tyre warming and brake warming. He'll freely admit it himself though.. Just watch the new feature they are doing on the 5 decades of F1 piece, it says something that they let him drive things like the Maserati 250F.
Don't take my post as a knock on him, just as a thought that he'd struggle to match those who have been champions.
