GEX Europe will be on the servers tomorrow. We will try and have it up before 12 noon EST

You will need to check the GEX forum for the link because it will take a day or more to get it on the official website

I hope you enjoy it

Hey Nick, Nice work with GEX Euro! Hats off to you and the team. Just wanted to let you know I was able to set my AG to VERY DENSE and fly my heavy tree areas with no problems at all. I did get a bit of the issue at first but adding a bufferpool of 100000000 and a well deserved O&O defrag fixed it up nicely. The only thing that really stands out to me it the grass textures at airports. They seem to look at bit too contrasty. Not really a huge show stopper though as it looks great from the air and after all it is a FLIGHT simulator so the air view is really what matters most. Again, not a complaint but a first impression of what stood out to me. I never flew in Europe much but now will thanks to GEX Europe and I also get the added benefit of higher autogen in my tree problem areas. Thank you! ;)

the deal with the airport pads is they can be made to look good low and on the ground, in which they look like mud from the air, or, far too grainy..

Patch for the pads is posted in the GEX forum at the top of the forum list

The v2 Patch may be the best choice if you prefer a very smooth ground

Just got GEX and the V2 patch.  Is there any way at all to just revert back to the older "patch" textures and keep all the rest? The V2 is better, but I just want it back the way it was;  Takeoffs and landing are the biggest part of the sim for me, so how the texture looks close up is very important.  I didn't realize it would change USA textures as well.  I don't want to give up on GEX Europe:  I'm sure as I explore the new world I will find much to recommend it, but those motley airport textures call attention to the limitations of 1m resolution, IMHO.  They seem to look rather unrealistic and incongrous next to the beautiful hi-res REX runways.  Speaking of which, I too use the REX grass replacement, which was a tremendous improvement. I had not noticed anything ugly looking in the rest of the sim...but now I'm hearing "it will screw the look of everything up"   So, someone explain?  If I continue to use GEX Europe I will have to go back to no granularity in the grass and just learn to live with the splotchy stuff?
Also, what is this autogen tree improvement that I hear has been implemented?  I'm not sure, and my tests are preliminary, but is it possible I'm seeing higher frame rates?

We are talking about the pad issue in the GEX forum. I am trying to work it out however there is a huge catch22 involved and you would lose this:

http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_p ... 076#186076

those pads are used all over in mountain high meadow grass, flatlands and valleys

What "older' Patch are you referring too

Default FSX?  original GEX USCAN? If you do that you will hate how they look and you can say goodbye to about 1000 other images where those pad textures are used in mountains, etc like I posted above

Yes.. the REX detail1.bmp will change asphalt, concrete, roads, snow, ice, and every other texture that should not look like grass and thats how it is with default too but becasue our textures are already made for the default detail1.bmp adding something like that to them is counterproductive to the visuals

If you never saw snow or roads that looked like grainy grass with that file installed, I am very surprised

I am trying to work on a solution for the pads but there is going to be some give and take on that no matter what.

Thank you, Nick!
Downloaded it yesterday, very nice! Only thing - my buggy roof textures seem to be back on some buildings. Not sure if that was because of GEX or something else I installed recently. I will run the fix again.

This might sound like a bunch of boot-lick, but I have never seen such a commitment from a developer to address the users' concerns.
