1. How do you know that?
Ice cores.
2. By about .6 Degrees Celsius globaly.
It's getting closer to one degree, however, some areas are getting cooler while others warmer. I beleive some parts of Europe are over 5 degrees warmer, average.
3. So whats new? Species always have and always will go extinct, even before man, millions of species lived and died out here on earth.
Massive amounts of previously healthy Wildlife dieing in short periods of time is what's new.
I tell you what, go get an endangered species list, and imagine if that had been happening for the past ten thousand years. Wouldn't be many animals, would there?
I'm not saying the earth is not getting hotter, just that how do we know what the cause or even the effects of "global warming" really are???
I agree.
Rather than dismissing it as a 'crazy cycle the Earth goes through every one in a while' (with no evidence), scientists should continue researching it and make a decision on what IS doing it.
@Relentless
over 650,000 years.... considering the age of the earth 650,000 years is not much!
In that 650000 years the only cycle we could see had absolutely nothing to do with the change that we're seeing today.
and what's never mentioned, is the species that wil not go extinct because of a climate change.
I don't think the fact that some species won't go extinct makes it any better.
Remember.. these things happen on time scales that are beyond our grasp.
Great Barrier reef is predicted to die within 50 years, it took millions of years to form.
Who's to say that a slightly warmer planet isn't a net, good thing ?
I don't think the changes that we're seeing are good things.

Now.. even if there was a convincing argument for man causing this..
And that's my point. You guys don't even accept the possibility that man is causing this, instead, it's a 'crazy cycle', but really, there isn't any evidence pointing to that either.
We're about as likely to stop being industrial (or alter our industry enough to make a difference in time to matter) as beavers are likely to stop building dams..
It's not about stopping being industrial. It's about cutting down emisions.
the solutions would be worse for civilization than the problem..
I disagree.
