All right, I'm back, I have to reply to this!  You mean to tell me that only the rich pay for this!?!  That is the most unfair thing I have heard in a long time.  It is the same issue in this country that it makes it "unfair to give taxcuts to the rich because they make so much money anyway", even though we bear 85% of the the nations tax burden.


You forget that everyone benefits from this. From the rich to the poor. People are made to pay as much as they can afford. The richer they are the more money they can put out in taxes which means that those on lower incomes have money to live with.

This means that when anyone, and I mean anyone, in this country falls ill or for some other reason needs hospital treatment, they get it. Free of charge. And before you shout any more, this also applies to anyone who may not be a citizen but needs treatment. Far better im my opinion that being left on a stretcher for hours on end while the doctors check you have insurance to make sure they're going to be paid for giving you a shot of painkillers.

So I can tell you this, if you came to England and broke your neck then you will appreaciate the NHS far more than I would appreaciate the American health system if I did the same over there.

Doesn't that make it a Consitutional right for State funded healthcare? After all, how do you promote the general Welfare without taking care of Health?

As for Public Health care vs Private...

In the US a large portion of what you pay for is administrative costs...not health care.

If I wanted an apointment with an administrator I wouldn't have phoned a doctor's office. :)

This is actually an interesting topic. Not what the original post was about but it is interesting to see the different sides of health care in different nations. Let's respect each other's opinions and please don't get too political. I don't want to break out the big key!  :o

Health care in different countries = Yes  ;D

Foxtrot I won't go into politics but I am going to defend myself:

 I'm being accused of putting a price on a human life yet you are the one who insist on paying outragous medical bills that people in the real world can't possibly hope to cover, why did Cpt. Haynes need donations to cover the cost if they are to be considered reasonable?

How can free medical care possibly be considered wrong if it means saving the lives of any patient regardless of their bank balance?
If someone with multiple personality disorder threatens suicide, is it a hostage situation?

Thou shalt maintain thine airspeed lest the ground shalt rise up and smite thee

And don't jump on me for this but, there was no politics involved in this thread for what I see. Just a difference in opinions on how our governments keep their countries citizens healthy.
