Much like Paz says the meda turns anything newsworthy into a political/race issue.
You must remember as with all major cities you have your well to do group of people and your poor, color makes no differenace.
These rescue efforts have been halted due to violence, the very people that need help are shooting at those that are trying to provide it!
Why would they do this ? Well considering we all know that a drug problem exsits in our poor population is no surprise, again color has nothing to do with this, you take a few thousand drug addicts and wipe out thier means to get a fix and hell is going to break loose, and that is what happened.
Now Im not saying all the stranded survivors are drug addicts but this is still a issues as to the looting and attacks on the rescue efforts, you haven't seen that on the news yet becasue the media is to stupid to see what is common sense.
As for the President he is making a visit on Monday, I thought it was a good move not to take him into a area where people were shooting and killing others

Fact is this is a tragedy of mass proportions one that no one expected to ever happen, this is one that could have been prevented (death of people not the storm itself) had those who have tried since the 80s to warn people what would happen if a Cat 5 made a direct hit on the coast.
It is amazing watching a PBS special done in 1996 where a scentiest had actually estimate damage and death like a proffit, everything he predicted down to the levies breaking where they did came true last week, but no one would listen.
I have heard that rescue efforts have been slow getting the poor, elderly and young out in time, and that they couldn't afford to leave before the storm hit, well also as stated above this is the responsibility of the state and local authorities, a mandatory evacuation means just that you must go, the poor had no way out so the authorites should have made sure they got out!
They had the means to remove many of those that couldnt get out on thier own in the form of hundreds of school buses, why didn't the Mayor use them?????

Fact is here in TN we started sending aid on Monday before the major damage started, as well as many other States, the Red Cross and Salvation Army. Problem is there was no way in except by boat and air, so what is one to do?
To many things happened and as always the easiest to blame is our President, or make it a race issue this isnt a political or race issue this is the result of Mother Nature and the lack of people understanding her power, the lack of being prepared on the local level.
I hope people take notice so the next time something like this is about to happen people take the warning as serious as they should!
IMHO if they even think of rebuilding that city then all who decide to live there have what will inevitably come to them, it isn't worth my tax dollar to be wasted in a area that WILL be destroyed again, it is clear to all now that New Orleans was a disaster waiting to happen, and unfortantely it did, so why set up for another?
It isnt pride, courage and the strength of the American people to rebuild what was taken away, it is stupidity and lack of common sense.
But like we always do we will put billions of dollars of tax payer money into this cess pool and have Mardi Gras once again and all will be happy and proud of our strength until once again Mother Nature sets us straight as to who is stronger
