Good Morning Old Airmail...
All the aircraft I owned and flew had Dual ADFs and VORs when VOR came about.
We used to listen to music and sports all the time while flying using the Aircraft ADF.
Here is a Link and there is lots of information on the internet on how to use an ADF...

In spite of the fact that many NDBs are being phased out, there are still some advantages to their use:
• The costs of both initial installation and maintenance make NDBs the lowest cost way for small airports to have radio aids.
• There are still some NDBs close enough together to permit cross country navigation.
• Knowledge of ADF-NDB use will help you pass the written licensing examinations.
• If there is an ADF in your plane, your examiner is required to test you on its use.
• Finally, you can use your ADF to listen to your favorite music or sports broadcasts while you are flying. It is suspected – and “documented” in movies like “Pearl Harbor” and “Tora, Tora, Tora”- that the Japanese planes which attacked Hawaii on December 7, 1941, used at least one commercial station to find their way from their aircraft carriers to Honolulu.
Disadvantages
Transmission from NDBs is subject to errors caused by the following:
• Electrical interference from the aircraft alternator and magnetos
• Thunderstorms
• Reflected waves from the ionosphere
• Waves reflected from mountains and the ocean
• Banking the airplane
Practice You Can Do
You can practice using ADF with the C-172 Skyhawk that comes with FSX or use any of about a dozen planes that come with X-Plane and quite a few other aircraft in FSX and FS2004.
and a few more.
