Nobody knows the future of FS or the Aces team. There's a lot of speculation, but that's all it is, speculation, and there's no way to say for sure what there will be.
I don't know why people are so concerned with the next version. We still haven't unlocked the full potential of the current version, notice how people still complain they cant run it maxed out? THAT'S THE POINT! The Aces team did a fantastic job with this version, they designed it to last a long time and I certianly think it will. There's still a TON of people who still play FS9, FS2002, and FS98, and I believe FSX has the potential to last longer then those.
Besides if the next FS has to be used through the Microsoft Live system with a monthly fee, I have a feeling the only people who are going to use it are those who have never used FS before. The reason this series has been so popular is beacuse of the ability for 3rd party developers to create add-ons for FREE. If M$ takes this away they take away the reason 90% of people use FS, and their sales will show it.
And who says just beacuse a new version comes out we have to buy it? The worst case scenario is M$ creates something none of us like, in which case we just stick with FSX or FS9 and continue adding to our virtual hangars. I know I would just stick with FSX.
