Flight Simulator X beautiful scenery places?

Postby M.R.Maiornikov » Mon Apr 16, 2007 8:53 pm

Hello fellow simmer. I have a question to ask you: if you know a beautiful rural spot in FSX please post it here. Because i am a fan of rural flying and would like to see what FSX has to offer.

Thanks in advance  ;)

There are some great spots over the appalachians.  Try flying to Burnsville, NC (2NC0)  It is literally on top of a mountain, and being in the hills, the flight to/from there is beautiful.

I do not have my sim right now so I cannot post anything to show you, but I strongly suggest you the following paths:
- from Concrete Mum to Packwood, very nice set of mountains, lakes and and fields
- from Sion to Ulrichen, just follow the valley heading East. Be sure to install the Switzerland Landclass for best result.
- flying all around Alpnach Mil, the surrounding area is a mixt between mountains and plains, huge lakes, airports, valleys etc... great for VFR, PERFECT for gliding :)
- the area around the default scenery of Innsbruck airport looks fantastic as well.

Hope this helps.

LOWI - Innsbruck, Austria

Absolutely stunning, mountains all around, houses on ledges on the mountains and down below in the valleys.  A river flowing through and traffic passing by on the road.  Allegedly one of the most difficult approaches.  You fly in from 13,000 feet skimming the tops of the mountains to instantly drop to the runway  underneath you in the valley below, hardly any approach distance to give you time.   Top of the mountains there are winding, twisting valleys with more airports and streams are visible everywhere.  The other end doesn`t look so bad but still challenging, it was approaching night time when I flew out again, to go on to Amsterdam, ahem, cough, for a cultural visit.

SVVA - Valencia, the airport is in a crater in the ground, in real life I`m led to believe the airport is on flat ground.  But it certainly looks the biz, with mountains in the near distance, a lake and Valencia itself.  Absolutely gorgeous!

LFLJ Courcheval, France
Unfortunately this mountain side runway doesn`t look its best until an addon is available.  The original airport has a bend in it and on landing you touch down at an uphill angle, go over the brow before you go on to the extremely short but flat section to a very small parking area.  Taking off, if viewed from the parking area gives the impression of the plane running down the side of the mountain as it goes over the peak and down the angled part.  A tree is in the middle of the runway in the FSX version, right at the end of the runway, that isn`t there in real life though.  Its still worth viewing for the mountain approach and fantastic scenery all around.

Just found this one from someones post with a problem, I went to check out the problem some 3,500 miles from me.  Its now on my favourite lists.  Big sweeping bay, a ship and a boat in dock.  Small airport, holds about 9 or therabouts.  Sea all around, mountains in the near distance.  Trees atop the hills, absolutely gorgeous.....

Any place can be beautiful if the sunlight and weather is right.
