The only tow plane for FS9 I know of is in the payware scenery "Emma Field" by Lago. The tow plane is an AI aircraft that takes you up to a specified altitude and then you can release the cable whenever you wish. It's quite good although I only used it a few times. The only down side is that this tow plane won't work anywhere other than Emma Field. I don't think there are any others out there.  :(

...if you are just interested in Gliding without the benefit of a Tow Plane to take you "up there"....
Press "Y" followed my "Q" (and "A") to propel your craft upwards to your selected altitude, then press "Y" again to release... :)...!

(Saves the cost of hiring a Pilot, Tow Plane...and a long length of string...).... ;)...!

F.... 8-)...!

That's great advice, Fozzer!  I never actually knew that before (and here I thought I was just supposed to sit on the runway in my glider and watch daisies grow).  I seriously never knew how to use the glider before.  I am looking forward to trying that out (as soon as the desktop is free).  Could you also use the "slew" mode and/or map controls to just move the plane to a desired elevation?

Curious,

Want to REALLY simulate a tow-plane take off? With the C-172, record a flight around an airport of your choice. Play this recording back, and change to the glider. When at the desired altitude, stop the recording. Now you can fly around by yourself. ;)

...arse... >:(...!

The "Delete" Button is much too close to the "Modify" Button... >:(...!

(Accidentally deleted my original Post while attempting to modify it!)...!!

Just wanted to add, that the "Y" key is also the "Slew" mode for moving an object "horizontally".
The "Q" and "A" keys alter the "height" whilst in "Slew" mode.... ;)...!

..any chance of an "Oopss...Undo" Button?... ::)...LOL...!
