737 Experience Landing

I had this aircraft on my computer for a very long time, and i really like flying it.

But, i was just inbound TNCM from TIST on a visual approach, when, 10 feet above the ground i deployed the spoilers, i was going 138 knots, and the plane just dropped down like a brick smashing the front wheel.

Normaly i use autobrake and autospoilers, so maby that could be the problem, because i was established on the lights, 40 flaps, and still had enough speed to safely deploy them. Could this be a bug? I updated it to the 1.2 FDE(if im correct) and installed a few skins.

If you are going 138 knots and you deploy spoilers 10 feet above the ground, that is what happens.

Instead of deplying your spoilers whilst airborne, arm them (default is Shift+/) and once the aircraft makes touchdown, they automatically deploy. ;)

You should only deploy the spoilers when all the wheels have touched down and the throttle is idle.

Ok, i figured it was my fault, but i just wanted to make sure :). Would have been one heck of a landing though if it went alright ;D.

At 138 you are at least between 13 and 8 knots faster (depending on weight and flaps) than you should in landing. Unless you have strong wind component or your flaps don't work (thing this that in FS happens with the same frequency of a multicolor moon), your landing should not exceed 130 knots, and only keep so high a landing speed if your plane is very heavy.

Then there's the fact that, as per Boeing's instruction in the matter, in a 737 configured for landing the use of the airbrakes while still in flight is expressly forbidden. No wonder your plane drops like a sack if you do. :P

Ah yeah, the Fokker 28 deploys em in flight automaticly.

Yeah, i was fully loaded, full flaps, and a small crosswind.

Yes, but the Fokker has an airbrake that has a smaller aerodynamic profile, and so does not have such a drastic effect. Nearly all aircraft manufacturers recommended that spoilers aren't used below around 5'000ft AGL, let alone when your right above the runway.....  ::)

I figured so, actualy the first time i deployed the spoiler above the runway, usualy i do it on the runway or i auto-arm them.

I don't know alot about the 737 but shouldn't you be between 140 knots and 175 knots when your landing?

I think so, depends on the load though. I know the fokker F28 has a maximum landing of 6000LBS, so you need to dump some feul if you havent burnt enough.

At 140 you're way faster to land in a correctly configured 737. :-?

175 knots is too fast even for a MD11 (one of the faster landing civilian planes around beside the Concorde). :-/

If you find yourself in the need to use such speeds in a 737 is surely because you weigh too much. It's a waste to take off at full tanks if you're only going to make a jaunt of few hundreds miles. A waste and a stress on the plane, that has to land under stressful weight conditions. ;)

Yeah, 175 is already a takeoff speed for a 737 :o.

BTW, all of the liveries for the Fokker F-28 are now availible.

Ok I guess I shouldn't compare a 737 to a 747. I usually land at around 165 knots. But thats most likely not right either but I get on the runway and I don't crash with realism settings set to hard.

For a fully loaded 747 that seems more realistic.
