I use a router to connect to broadband with and it has a built in firewall I do not need any special setting to use real world weather but depending on how or what service you use to connect with multiplayer you will have to open ports in your fire wall in order to use that service VATSIM and the others have a readme file that tells you which ports you need to set. Just check your manual that came whit zone alarm if it will not allow this then you will have to deactivevate it while flying.
If you fly for a virtual airline check with the site they should have a section for how to connect with there multiplayer
