Postby gonehaywire » Thu Oct 28, 2004 12:57 am

Hello,
Guess I could of posted this with my last question but sliped my mind, Anyway's I keep seeing about No CD is that so you don't have to load the cd in to play? Cause I know that's getting to be a pain all the time. Since I'm new here I would like a little info on it please. And is it free to use or get? Thanks

Hiya Gonehaywire and welcome to the forums.

No CD is exactly what you say.

It's a modification of the FS9.exe and can be found HERE

simply replace with the file on that page and weyyyy heyyyyyy no need to put the CD in.

happy CDless simming
cheers

Dear eno,

I down loaded the patch for No Cd, now do I unzip it and then what? Where is the orginal FS9 exe. file?

Please give simple instructions? I love to fly with no Cd like the old Fs 2002 again.

Unzip the file to a temporary folder. You'll see 2 files, one of them is 'FS9.exe'

Copy this file in your main Flight Simulator 2004 folder. It should be at 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 2004', unless you picked a different name/location when installing. When asked to 'Overwrite?', say yes. This will overwrite the original file.

You may want to first make a back up copy of the original 'FS9.exe" file although the original is always available from the CD's.

If you have, or are planning to install the MS FS9.1 upgrade you may want to hold off on the NoCD patch.
Although some have said the NoCD patch works with the update, MS says you will not get all the benifits of the update if you alter/replace the new FS9.exe file. (Whatever that means  :)  )

Cheers,
Dave

Though Microsoft are probably trying to say this to stop people using the NoCD.
Due to untrustworthy raggamuffons who use this NoCD to pretend they have the CDs when they dont.
tut tut :) ::)
