Give that a shot. Maybe some graphics card/FS display settings need to be adjusted for the new monitor as well.

You should try and run on the native resolution of your monitor. But it is plausible that your current res might be causing the problem.

What happens if you put the 17" back, does the FPS improve ?
Check the Response Time of your LCD, if its greater than 6 ms then thats could be part of your problem.
Try switching to 1024x768 as most LCD's will force 1280x1024.

I'm on a 47" LCD and didn't have any problems switching over.  But I did have to change my resolution I believe.

I tried to lowering the resolution in the game - graphics options and seems to work, I don't want to change the general resolution 1280x1024(that is changing in the control panel) as all the rest of the programs run well.
I low a bit the Anti A in the graphic card options at 2x.
All this seems to improve a lot the display of the sim, 20 fps... good for me.
So many thanks for your advises.   :)

Your problem may be the same as mine. I bumped up my settings to max-max all over the sim the other night after having them set to give me good performance for a long, long time. Now, FS starts and crashes in less than a second, reverting to Desktop. Problem is, I can't get into it to set things back. What I don't understand is that I can run DiRT and GRID on this machine like butter yet my creaky, cranky old FS2004 throws it to the mat...

Try deleting your FS9.cfg file (after backing it up of course!). FS will rebuild a new cfg with default settings on next startup. Any tweaks you made before can be edited in again from your backup copy.
