First of all I gotta say that is one seriously good looking Zipper Daube 8-)
I agree with the remarks about FS filling a gap that generally combat sims miss the mark on....and yes different combat sims have come and gone from my computer but FS has always been my main simulator all the way back to FS98

Tinpusher, there has been alot of changes since the original SFP1 and if you enjoyed it back then you would likely enjoy it even more now with all the variations of it that are available......some of the era specific mods are like a complete make-over of the game that are very detailed to a specific conflict and the level of historical correctness can make for some very convincing and immersive campaigns.

On another note......Allthough I don't currently have the time to invest into it, DCS is a new combat sim that arguably has as good a level of detail as FS does.
I came across this video recently of a multiplayer session of DCS A-10 which is nothing short of amazing.....If I could coin the phrase "as real as it gets" ;)

It is definitely worth setting the resolution as high as you can get it, click on full screen, and sit back and be impressed by the level of detail in the sim, and the level of skill of the guys at the controls
Enjoy

Romflyer this is simply too good to be true!
Apparently I have missed something in the CFS area the last few years.
I just saw the attached video and visited their website.
This will be purchased as soon as possible.
Unfortunately we have here just a Compaq laptop with a low end graphics card.
Looking at the specs I must wait till we go back to NL later, where my high end desktop is ready for any workload.
Thanks again for showing the way.

By the way: some time ago I saw a forum subject on the future of flightsim in general.
Looking at the U tube video I have the strong opinion that this IS the future!

Regards.

Glad to hear that you were as impressed as I by the video.....Be advised that DCS is not for the faint at heart, it is a study sim along the lines of PMDG or Falcon 4.0......it is not a kick the tires and light the fires kinda show.

That being said, it is very new platform with a wide open structure that seems to be designed to be flexible, and many payware developers are looking at producing a wide range of AC for it. Actually Lomac FC3 was recently released and it is designed as an addon to the DCS world.

Definately on my list of 'to gets'......when I have a free month (or 2) available to learn how to start-up and fly an A-10

Very helpful info and mucho interesting sites.
Cloud9 used to have a very realistic oneohfoor but unable to trace them; they probably are no longer in business.
Thanks again for your help.

A post on another forum recommended Skunkworks as a good F-104. Not sure if it is payware or freeware, but it was a fun rant to read about "super dooper dooper speed"...
