Need clarity on pic count...

Postby Staiduk » Fri Jul 02, 2004 2:31 pm

'Lo!  :)
OK; before I continue with the 'pole to pole' thread; I need a bit of clarity on what one can put in.
According to the rules; one can fit up to 500kb per individual post; but it doesn't say anything about thread count. Based on that; I've been keeping the log of my trip within one thread - easier that way; both for me and for others to follow. However; there's been some murmurings on this and other threads that there is a maximum pic count per thread.
So just to be safe; I need a bit of explanation regarding the pic count per post/thread; if that's possible. :)
Thanx!
Dave

I sent a message on this and I was told that it was 500 per thread, which is why I have been starting a new one for each chapter of my story...

Yep, 500kb per thread or 5 shots, which ever comes first. This is because a lot of people are still on dial-up and pages bigger than 500k would take forever to load.

I don't think that's the reason Iroquois. Maybe I'm misquoting him but from what Pete said in a previous topic I understand that loading graphics intensive webpages uses a lot of bandwidth. This slows the whole site down for everyone, not just users of the forum or those on dial-up.

The rules seem clear enough to me. ;)
Rules for posting images on Simviation's forums

Please keep all screenshots/images in JPG format & less than 100K.
Please keep all images within 800 pixels wide
Please keep PERSONAL avatars (logo under your name) less than 10K & 100 pixels wide
Please keep SIGNATURE images within 30K max.
Please do not post more than 500K total of files in any one thread.

Images not complying with these guidelines will be deleted.

Important : Do not link to these images from other sites. Members found doing this may be banned & images deleted.

Your co-operation is appreciated. Thanks.

I would also point out that quoting a previous post with an image in it can easily take the thread over the limit. It's easy enough to remove it from the quote.
