Yup the Levasseur pl8 of Nungesser and Coli got tested last night, she is a bear to get airborne with a full load of fuel, but handles quite nicely once you've gained enough altitude and burnt off some of the fuel....

The trick is to push the nose down whilst you are bombing along the runway, this gets the tail free and lets you gain enough speed to get airborne. Its tricky, but I've been flying elderly biplanes for a while and learnt one or two tricks

I do wish there was a pilot in that seat though. When in spot view it looks like a ghost ship!

Im planning on doing a direct flight from Le Bourget (Or summin like that in Paris) to Republic in New York in that beast.  Your right it does tak a lot of strip to take off though. Top tip u give just the way i take off.

Set near on full down trim to start with to get the tail up as quick as poss, then she really starts pickin up the speed, then I apply up trim so as not to stall her on take off. I rotate her about 105kts true airspeed.  Gonna be a long flight. I'm gonna be racing my mate. We are not going to use GPS or FSNAV I have plotted a VFR FP and written lots of notes.  I gotta feelin we gonna get so lost over the Atlantic though LOL  ;D
