I'm not sure how to do the repaint, but I am trying to find the right location for the tail flash, even then it might prove difficult, I know the tail texture is not exact. Oh well, neither will my tail flash. I'll post it if I ever figure it out.

I spotted the missing fin markings myself. I'll check it out later & a simple fin flash should not be at all difficult. As the Mustang III is an official AvHistory bird I assume it might not be possible. It depends how the textures were assigned.

This was a quick & dirty job. Not too pretty or accurate but proves it can be done. Shouldn't be too difficult even for a first repainting project. ;)

I will keep trying, but so far, when I use windows paint to place the tail flash and then resave the texture as a DXT1 Oaque, bootup the plane, I have no textures on the fuselage. I know it must be some simple mistake, so I will keep trying.
HawkerTempest Thanks for the picture offer, found one of similar plane.
Hagar   Thank you for the example.  I will persevere and I will prevail.  Boy, did that sound puffed up or what? :o Must be getting snotty in my old age. ;D

Keep on trying Fido pal, it looks so much better with the correct markings ;D
Oh and whilst you're at it, those "C" Type upper wing roundels need changing to "B" Type ;)

I'm no artist or I would take the time to do it myself. For edited textures, make sure you're saving them in the correct format with the exact file name of the original & to the correct location. The problem is almost certainly one of these or a combination. When messing around with textures I always take a backup copy of the original Texture folder first in case of mistakes - then work from the original.

Hi Fido/Hagar

Let me know exactly what you want to change (ie make it as quick and easy for me as possible  ;D ) and I will revise the textures for you and upload them here if you like?   ;)

Hi Paul. Basically it needs the fin flash added. Tempest also suggested changing the upper wing roundels to the "B" Type. I think if it's worth doing these should be authentic & it might be best for him or Fido to help with an image.

PS. I was hoping to encourage one of the guys to do it themselves with my usual crafty method of gentle persuasion combined with some downright bullying if necessary. You never know, we might have another budding  repainter amongst us. :D

Guys:
What do you think, did I get the Tail Flash right?
Image
I've only done the starboard side, in case I did it incorrectly.

Well Fido. I'll leave Tempest to cast his critical blearies over it on the authenticity front.

It looks mighty fine from where I'm sitting. Well done. :D

That's looking fine Fido pal. I've been trying to find out the serial code for that Mustang, but although I have found a number of aircraft from that Squadron (316 Warszawski Polish Squadron) I can't find this exact aircraft.
The upper wing roundels are the correct size but need the white painting out with blue to make them into "B" Type as was standard in June '44. "C" Type was used post Jan. '45.
Aircraft repainting is something I have always wanted to do but all my efforts end up a grey blank mess :'(

Paul, Hagar:
Thanks for the good word, and encouragement, I might wait for Hawker to chime in before doing port side flash,  but, I trust your opinions as well. Don't know if you noticed, but on the bottom edge of the red portion of the tail flash, near the white band, there appears an indention, this does not show up in the texture file, is there a fix, or am I just being too pickey again?

              Fido  ;)   ;D

I think that SZ-B was FB223.
