Sad to see such a ship go, but needs must... There's no money, and unless you're doing a job right now, then as we've seen (Nimrod, Harrier etc), you're very vulnerable.

Nice photos. There was no cafe up there the last time I visited.

Shame about the Ark. I wonder what will take her place as flagship.

Lovely shots. :)

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

I live in Portsmouth and we thought we'd go into Gunwarf because the Ark Royal was open to the public for the weekend , but the thing is that the queue went from underneath me to the ship :o so we went to the pub instead ;D

WOW! I visited Portsmouth maybe 15 years ago, and Spinnaker Tower wasn't there!  :D Pretty cool view from up there!

Awesome shots...I must get across the pond sometime in the near future while I still can... :)

I thought the Royal Navy was building two (2) new large carriers?
There was a thread before Christmas about that here at Simviation.

What is the name of that tall ship and she looks like she could still be coal fired as well... :)

Yep, Queen Elizabeth and Prince of Wales, which, all being well will have F-35C. :)

The one in the foreground is the HMS Warrior http://www.hmswarrior.org/
The one in the background is the HMS Victory http://www.hms-victory.com/
The carrier to the left is the HMS Ark Royal http://www.royalnavy.mod.uk/operations- ... ark-royal/
