First this year

Postby Hagar » Fri Jan 07, 2011 12:01 pm

It's a while since I posted any photos. Here's a few I took at Popham last Sunday, 2nd January 2011. Unusually for me they're all on the ground & all have a nosewheel.

The Aerotechnik EV-97 Eurostar must have the best all-round visibility of any low-wing type. Very popular microlight. Available either as a kit or factory built.

Another microlight. The Jabiru UL-450.

The ARV Super 2. Originally produced in the 1980s by entrepreneur Richard Noble on the Isle of Wight. Unfortunately it suffered from problems with the two-stroke Hewland engine.
A few examples like this one have been fitted with the reliable & more powerful Rotax engine. G-BMWF now lives at Popham.
Image

Way before its time. The Wassmer Wa-52 Europa is of all-plastic construction. EFVS was built in 1971.

Very nice shots Doug. Love the Jabiru and the ARV Super 2. :)

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

An interesting selection there Doug. I agree with you on the visibility from the Eurostar, unlike its train namesake I imagineyou can REALLY see the world from it :)

There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

Thanks for the comments chaps. I try to post photos of aircraft that most people don't see every day.

I had the old girl come and look and she said the same thing I did..."What no snow"... ;D

We had snow but nothing like you get Doug. I captured this from the Popham webcam on Christmas Eve.

It's all gone now but the airfield is very soggy.
