DeHavilland DHC-3 Otter on Floats

Postby Flying Trucker » Tue Oct 19, 2010 9:51 pm

Good evening all... :)

Here is a shot off the internet of a DeHavilland of Canada DHC-3 "Otter" on floats.

Thought someone might enjoy the shot of the old Stoneboat.... :)

Beautiful shot Doug. Thanks for sharing. :)

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

I'm lucky I get to see one every day I go to work... CF-PEM is in our hangar for the winter.  ;)

unfortunately all I see are turbo otters... I want to see a otter with the old radial fly
Carriers would be so mush easier to land on if they would just stop turning!!!

I think Ken has some shots he is going to post f-35simpilot so let us hope some are of radial engine Otters and Beavers.

A Norseman would not be bad either... ;D

We Radial enthusiasts drool over the old P&W Radial motors, but I imagine they must be an expensive, time consuming, maintenance nightmare for their owners now, compared to the latest P&W; PT6 Turbine engines spinning the props?... ::)..!

Paul...radially inclined... ;D...!

Good evening Paul... :)

Still a few small operators use the Otter and Beaver with radials but the turbines are starting to replace them.

We hear the Otter and Beaver Line might be reopened as there is nothing out there to replace them and do the same job.... ;)

Always did like flying the big radials, it gave you something to do in the cockpit rather than just sitting there... :)

...worrying about the frozen Carburettor, dodgy Magneto, oil leaks, fouled Sparking Plugs.....

Happy days!... ;D... ;D... ;D...!

..Otherwise?... [smiley=thumbsup.gif]...!

That's good to hear Doug, hope it's true. Maybe they will put out a Super Otter with winglets and better performance like Eugene Heyart's Otter NG for FS9. I wish it was available in a native FSX model.
