A380 Visits Perth for the first time

Back in October 2008, Perth was priviliged to see the new QANTAS A380 "Nancy Bird-Walton" arrive. Quite a few people came to see this wondrous bird. Perth Airport and QANTAS made the most out of the event, with stickers posters and such given away.

Our first look. Was expecting her to soar over the northern part of the hills, but nope straight overhead. Was rather quiet too.

I was wondering about the point of two thrust reversers myself so here is a link...

Taken directly from the link:  The A380 was initially planned without thrust reversers, as Airbus designed the aircraft with ample braking capacity to not require their use.[131] However Airbus elected to fit the two inboard engines with thrust reversers in a late stage of development.[100][132] The two outboard engines do not have reversers, reducing the amount of debris stirred up during landing. The A380 features electrically actuated thrust reversers, giving them better reliability than their pneumatic or hydraulic equivalents, in addition to saving weight.[133]



Interesting information on the aircraft, will be nice to see a cargo version of this aircraft.
