A few more displays including the WW1 Sopwith Triplane, Lynx helicopter, Hawk trainer (in a very lovely paint scheme!!) and the King Air.

Cheers, part 3 coming soon.

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

My pleasure, Doug.  ;D

Yeah they had a few WWI aircraft about and a number of model aircraft too. It's always impressive how such old things are still so capable. A lot of other machines break after a decade but these are going on to be a century  8-)

I think you'll find that Sopwith triplane is only a paltry 22 years old :P

Many of the WW1 aircraft on the British airshow scene are replicas, albeit very accurate ones.

.mic

That one is full scale & built from the original plans although it's powered by a radial & not the original rotary engine.

Some of the WWI replicas on the air show circuit are 7/8th scale with modern engines. The Shuttleworth Collection at Old Warden owns the most accurate airworthy example of a Sopwith Triplane. It was built by the Northern Aeroplane Workshops & delivered in 1990 so the airframe is actually only 20 years old.
