Summer aviation

Postby 61_OTU » Wed Sep 09, 2009 9:47 am

Hi Folks,

not posted in the photos forum for a while, not posted much full stop, so here are a few from the summer

I love the new paintjob on Peter Teichmann's P40, I hope he keeps it. Looking great here in the evening light leaving Cosford Airshow 2009

Anna Walker enjoying the full sun during the day at Cosford, *this* is where out summer went, remember it?

And departing the show at the end of the day

Ok, one other sunny day, Lands End Rescue Demonstration day. 818 was on the ground for people to have a look around, but went u/s when it was supposed to do the rescue demo. 819 brought some spares and a spanner then did the demo, before 818 departed later on in the day

Haven't been able to get out to much aviation-wise, I'll have to try to fit some more in before the weather turns too much

The first shot has a terrific mood to it with the lighting.

Thanks chaps,

We certainly were lucky that day Craig, uninterrupted blue sky, sunshine and a gentle breeze, perfect. I'm slightly disappointed with the images I got as a result. I always put poor results down to poor light, no excuses that day though ;-)

I did have a real issue with dust spots that day, the perils of a 2nd hand camera body. I have cleaned it since (managed to get up the courage) and it is much better, but it has made some of the shots at smaller apertures completely unrecoverable. All in all though I felt that I should have done better.

Still, the P40 and P51 shots are some of my favourite shots that I have taken. I just love the light, angle sharpness etc.

An interesting observation about the Sea King is that it was taken at the 70mm end of my 24-70. The trick is always to get as close as possible ;-)
