Binoculars...

Postby packercolinl » Thu May 28, 2009 3:37 am

for plane spotting.

My 10x50's aren't doing it for me :'(

What I would like is something with a wider view to pick up aircraft in flight and a bit more range--20x?.

I have a nice spot overlooking my local airport but it is about 15 miles away.

There is a parapet at the right height for support but I don't want to go to a tripod situation.

Any help would be appreciated :)

Cheers,

Col.

P.S. Price is a consideration :(

They have a 12x50 model if that is large enough... ebay has even larger tripod mounted ones... 50's cold war milspec stuff

Thanks Ivan,

I had a look at their website and saw the other binocs. I haven't looked deeply yet at makes, models, prices or where I'll get my choice from but your information has been very useful--I didn't know about KOMZ.

I have had a look around and at the moment I'm canning the project.

It looks like 12x50 is the best I can do without support or go for a better quality 10x50 even. I don't want to go to tripod mounted so I've limited myself in choices.

Even so,I had put a limit on my spending and my options are about twice my top limit.

Maybe later :(
