Spokane International (KGEG) Spotting - Part 1

Postby BFMF » Sun May 31, 2009 11:13 pm

Today was another warm sunny day and I couldn't spend it inside, so I went out. I drove out to Spokane International airport to photograph some aircraft with my new lens. I found a really nice spot not far from the runway 25 threshold. I waited a few minutes untill I realized that runway 7 was active. So I drove around the airport and found a spot to wait. I waited a few minutes, and than realized that 25 was active again...lol

So I drove back to my original spot, and it wasn't long before I spotted this beauty coming in. I was ready to take the shot, but when I pressed the shutter button, the camera started beeping. To my utter horror, I still had the 10 second timer delay mode turned on from my moon photos lastnight. My only gripe with that feature is that I don't know of a way to cancel it during the timer countdown. I really need to get in the habbit of double checking ALL of those settings before taking a time sensitive photograph... :-[

I don't know if the airport is generally this slow, if approach control took a 30 min lunch break, or if it was just a slow day, but I waited half an hour before another aircraft landed. A couple airliners took off during that time period, but I didn't get any decent photos.
