My Doxies Are Growing Up :(

Postby BigTruck » Sat May 23, 2009 2:24 am

My puppies are turning into dogs  :'(  They're growing into good dogs though, terrific hunters and best of friends...if only they would poop outside  ;D

You know, all my life I never thought much of a dachshund. My step-son has three. One is a miniature male dachshund he calls Bubba. He also has two females.

My neighbor just got a five year old all black male that has a head almost as long as his body. His legs are so darn short that when he gets out out in the winter, if there's snow on the ground, he's gonna have one frosty wiener and a pair of snowballs....lmao

I'm becoming quite fond of the little wiener dogs.

Very good pictures..... [smiley=thumbsup.gif] [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

lol, I have some friends who have one, and in the winter when we get a lot of snow, the poor little dog doesn't like to go outside in the snow unless he has to take care of business.... ;D

Aw, they grow up so fast... ;D

Which is why you'd better start house-breaking them tout suite!
When I got Peg, she'd been "in jail" so long she had some issues with that. She knew how to ask to be walked, but sometimes she'd just poop wherever. To correct that, other than letting her know it was not cool, I first set up paper in one spot, and she eventually figured out that if she had to do it inside, she should go there (if she crapped in a "bad" place, I'd bring her over to the paper to scold her). That worked pretty well.

Eventually I took the paper away, and since then, except for a couple of rare "accidents" when I kept her waiting too long, she will "stand by" as long as necessary (the other key thing, of course, is to not keep them waiting too long).

We use the puppy pads, placing them near the door so they get the hint.  They're learning  8-)

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

They're little, so a lot of people assume they're girly dogs, but once they realize how much of a hound they really are (hunt hunt hunt, that's all they want to do) they start to see why they are so popular  :)  That and their personality is just adorable...so smart, and so stupid at the same time  ;D

Wow that's old for a Doxie, they usually don't make it too far past 10 years.  My first one died at 11 years old.
