Somerset - 14.05.09

Braved the rain today and went out photographing. Spent 4 hours at the M5 pass and got bugger all, so headed to Yeovilton. When leaving there we heard Merryfield tower go operational so headed there ( a reserve strip for Yeovilton that many heli crews go to practice on). We weren't disappointed, finding 3 seakings and a lynx playing around the confined spaces and sloped landings, including the special arctic schemed seaking :). This was made even better thanks to the friendly lynx crew who noticed up cowering from the rain and brought their aircraft right in front of us, spinning a few times before heading to the other end of the runway and gunning it at low level towards us into a break (whilst waving...see last picture :P)

All in all a good day (apart from the weather :P)

Fantastic, worth forwarding the last one over to 702. I'm sure the pilots would appreciate a look :)

I've tried to find an email address to thank them for brightening up our day, but couldn't...I think I may have to write a good old fashioned letter :P

Love the arctic Seaking. All that's missing now is the marines piling out screaming "GET SOOOOME!!"  :D

Alec
FAC: "It sounds pretty bad"

Jerry Shriver: "No, no. I've got 'em right where I want 'em - surrounded from the inside."

Some good efforts there Mic, but I think the camera would be better off staying in the bag in future with conditions like that.  ;)
