Glider resto update & visitor- part 2

This very fine 1949 L-108 warranted a closer look, and the ebullient gentleman flying it was happy to show it off and tell us all about it. It has the original Franklin under the cowl, and the (probably not original) plywood panels in back for hauling cargo with the rear seat removed (hence the "station wagon" name of this variant). It was re-covered, etc. about 20 years ago. Looked geat yesterday because he'd cleaned the exterior a bit before setting out from NH.

I remember one of those visiting Popham last year. I believe it's the only example of its kind in this part of the world. I posted a photo of it at the time. Unfortunately, for some unknown reason I never got a close look at it.

Wonderful looking bugsmasher Sean...great capture.

Now for all you wannabees (An ambitious and aspiring young person) out there who don't believe aeroplanes have air horns just look at those dual air horns in front of the open door.  

Why they would put any truck drivers set to shame.  On final all the pilot does is one pull on the air horn line and those ducks, geese, other flying critters like jets, eggbeaters and anything on the runway will get out of your way.
Yes folks used them a good many time on approach.  

Is this a good time to go down and stand in the corner of the barn now Sean?    ;D
