Too bad they don't use the Turbo Mentors for primary training anymore.

Awesome catch!  I've never seen a Mentor in person, but it's one of my favorites to fly in FS!

I'm pretty sure they use T-6 Texan II's nowadays for primary, and the Goshawk for advanced. They used to fly T-2 Buckeyes for advanced/intro to jets but they retired them in '06 I believe.

(Don't tell him that's a marine Harrier landing on a marine amphib carrier. ;D)

My step-son is a PO-2 in the Navy and is currently stationed on the CG-72 USS Vella Gulf.

His first ship was the USS Wasp (LHD 1), which is an amphibious assault ship. They normally have the 22nd MEU on the ship and he became good friends with many Marines.

He called me once when he was off the coast of NC and chatted a bit. Said they were tossing Marines overboard....lol....you could hear them all heckling him in the background. After a short chat he told me he had to go because they were pulling out and he had to go below and beat the drum for the Marines that were manning the oars....lmao
