C130 back scratcher

Postby expat » Wed Feb 25, 2009 11:57 am

We had this Herc in at EDLP today. I had just done a crew handover on the 737 in the background and was driving past. I got flagged down by OP's to help out on a translation problem. The tanker driver did not understand what the crew wanted. It turned out that they needed to grease the left main gear. During gear let down, they got reds and then some long seconds later, greens and asked if we could help. After a quick discussion about grease specs, it turns out the grease we use on the gear of our A320's is the same on the Herc. So back to the hanger pick up a grease gun and my camera. I had asked if I could take a couple of pictures before I left. I returned, gave the grease gun to the ground engineer and asked about pictures again. No problem he replied and the crew said I could start in the cockpit 8-) You scratch my back, I will scratch yours

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

Very very cool, Matt. Pity about the lack of analog gauges. :P

Man, those last 2 shots are great!  :o

Wonderful series Matt! What airforce does it belong to? UK? Italy? Can't be Belgium, we still have the regular props...

Very nice Matt :)

Who needs marking on RAF hercs...you can recognise them by the mismatch of grey and olive parts that seem to adorn all the Js these days :P

Thanks for the interior pics Matt.  [smiley=thumbsup.gif] When I served they were still analog, and I always entered back end first. ;D
