Actually, California and Hawaii both require plates on the front and back, I don't know if any other states require it or not, I know my home state of Michigan doesn't.

I told him Indiana doesn't require plates on the front bumper unless the vehicle classed as a combination vehicle. He said, "Well Washington does and I'm going to ticket your truck!" I said, "Whatever man, I'm sure a competant judge will just throw it out, but do whatever makes you feel froggy." This conversation went on for about 20 minutes and it was really funny and I never did hear anything about what happened afterwards. The whole time going around and around with this stupid cop I kept thinking, "What does he want me to do, strap a plate to a rocket and point toward Washington? And just where am I supposed to get a plate at 9pm?" :D
