August Sunday at 47N- part 2

47N attracts quite a variety of aircraft thirsty for less-expensive fuel... like this rare Rutan Defiant.

The pilot of this R44 is a friend of Mike's; stopped by to have a chat.

One of the banner fleet's Super Cubs comes in for fuel...

John had his L-3 "Grasshopper" out, so of course I bummed a ride, and a little stick time. Very Champ-like, but it was odd flying it from the back seat.

We just wandered around for a bit, with me flying higher than I really needed to (an old habit). Had a look at a couple of corn mazes, including the excellent "Cornfusion". ;D

You seem to be making up for lost time. Good to see you're enjoying yourself.

I'm wondering why those banner-towing aircraft have no cowlings. Have the engines been modified?

Curses! All my Sundays for the most part are filled with work. I really wish I could get down there. :(

Im curious too, I see them flying around the Bay all the time without covers, I thought it was just an old beater plane when I saw the first one, but after the next couple flew over I assumed it was just to keep the engine cooler under the extra load/drag.
