Oshkosh '08: part 10

Postby beaky » Wed Aug 06, 2008 6:27 pm

My Airventure series continues in typical epic fashion... ;D

Lots of Ercoupes as usual, but this one is special: this ship was originally sold to the military by Erco for use as a XPQ-13 radio-controlled target drone! Lucky for us, it was never shot up. ;D

I've recently taken a greater interest in Ercoupes because I'm going to win one. ;)

Another fabulous Ryan trainer, the PT-21...

Not sure what this Kawasaki-powered flivver is called, but it looks like fun. :)

Speaking of fun, how about a sonex on amphibious floats?! You can build a Sonex for less than US $30K, including the engine... another $10K or so will get you the floats. I'd love to have one, especially on floats. Very cool.

Now I know I said I'm going to win an Ercoupe, but it's possible I'm also going to win this absolutely gorgeous GC-1B Swift. ;D

It'd cost a little more to insure and operate than an Ercoupe, but it would be worth every penny.  A little more work to get used to flying it, but worth every gray hair and drop of sweat.
I get tingly just thinking about it. This is a truly classic American design... a legend from the end of the Golden Age.

The office of 271: pretty sophisticated for an otherwise-stock Swift (except for the 145 hp 6-banger on the nose). I think I'll be very comfy in here. ;)
