Summer Storm

Postby BAW0343 » Sun Aug 03, 2008 11:08 pm

All year I have been looking forward to the storms so that I could take some photos of lightning again. I've tried a few times in the past months from my backyard with few results. However today I decided I'd chase down a storm and get a good angle on it and this is what I got:

It's been about 2 years since Ive gotten a good lightning photo, today was something very special for me  ;D

Took them only about 30 min ago  :D I'll spend some time and do some better post processing as I just noticed that stupid 75 sign in the bottom of the pics. Nothing a little photo chopping cant fix  ;)

Reflexes like a cat  ;)

Pretty simple actually, just set the camera to a long exposure. These range from 40 sec to about 5 minutes at an F-stop of f/11 for the first then f/8 for the rest.

Oh alright, I didn't even think of that. I was just picturing you sitting there mashing the shutter button every flash you saw, haha.

Thanks for the replys!

Camera was at an ISO of 100, I usually keep it at that whenever I can to reduce noise. Unfortunately with long exposures noise just comes naturally.

This was hardly a big storm compared to some we've had. In fact there was a bigger storm just behind those mountains you see in the background, and to give you an idea of my location, just behind those mountains is Mexico.
