You are in the same boat as me, i have the s5700 and was going to get the d40 but am going to get the d60, how much did you pay with the two lenses included??

That looks like a good deal. You will find that 55-200 zoom very useful.

I was going to buy a D40, however I found the Canon much easier to use, as if someone put thought into how people were going to use it.  However the Nikons manual focus is soooooo smoooth!

Good choice! I've played with my brother in law's D60 and I liked what I saw. Plus, you have the 2 VR-lenses and they get very good reviews. I don't think a d40 would have been better. I've read Ken Rockwells article about it and he mainly has a problem with the fact that the D60 is less light sensitive (base: iso 100) than the d40 (base: iso 200). So? You just set the d60 to iso 200 and your problem is solved. These days, dSLR's are capable of working at high Iso's without to much noise. And even then, it's removable, using the right tools.

Just learn about shuttertimes and how they affect possible blur in your shots. And if you constantly need long exposure times with your lenses, your going to buy fast lenses ( f2. anyway.

Don't worry to much about it, just enjoy your brilliant new toy.  ;)
