Discovery Launch

Went and saw the shuttle launch today, second time I've gone. First time was in '99 for STS-103. Saw that from the VIP section, which I must say is much better than anywhere else, since it is much less crowded.

These shots were from Space View Park, which is 12 miles from the pad.

I can only imagine how loud this thing is..., is it as loud as i would expect? I imagine you get a little delay been 12 miles away however?

actually it not that loud if your inland like orlando and such because I live around their but I never been able to get to see a luanch at kenndy so I dont now about there :)

It's not as loud as you would expect, because at the distance I was from the launch the sound had dissipated a lot. It took about a minute for the sound to reach us.

Yep. Sound travels at about a mile every 5 seconds.
